Meadows 2016 Leader of the Year and Associate of the Year recognitions were announced on October 9, 2016 during an Associate Recognition event help at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community in Chenoa, Illinois.
The "Gene Sutton Award of Excellence" is awarded annually to two Meadows associates (one from each campus) who exemplify the Meadows Mission and values throughout the year. The award is named in honor of Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community resident Gene Sutton, also an influential leader and influencer at the community. The "Peggy Carmack Leader Award of Excellence" is awarded annually to a Meadows leader who exemplifies the Meadows Mission and values throughout the year. The award is named in honor of former Meadows at Mercy Creek resident Peggy Carmack, who was an influential leader and influencer at the community.
Krista DeHaai is the 2016 recipient of the Gene Sutton Award of Excellence for Meadows at Mercy Creek. Krista serves as Resident-Culinary Liasion for the Normal campus, and has been with the community since its doors opened in September 2012. She works hard to creating appealing, healthful menus, connects with residents and guests to ensure an excellent dining experience, represents the Culinary Department in special events planning, and is a member of Meadows Employee Council. Krista and her family live in Normal, IL.
Mariah Morris is the 2016 recipient of the Gene Sutton Award of Excellence for Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community. Mariah serves as Accounts Payable and previously served as Life Enrichment Director at Meadows at Mercy Creek. Mariah exhibits a strong work ethic, is dependable and efficient at her job. She is supportive of special events and activities at the community level and is a member of the People Services Team. Mariah lives in Bloomington, IL.
Brenda Blair is the 2016 recipient of the Peggy Carmack Leader Award of Excellence. Brenda serves as Human Resources Director and is responsible for human resource functions, payroll, associate recognition and compliance. She leads Meadows People Services Team to plan and coordinate associate events for the S.T.A.R. process for Meadows, which involves selection, training, assessment and recognition standards. Brenda and her family live in Colfax, IL.
