Culinary Department Assistant

Meadows Chenoa

The overall purpose of the Culinary Department Assistant position is to provide assistance in the delivery of dining services. Prepare and/or serve food items, set up tables and trays, wash tableware and cooking utensils, perform general cleaning tasks and wait on tables.


  • Experience in food service and using food service equipment is preferred
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language is preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Consistent and regular attendance
  • Shows respect in dealing with co-workers, residents and their families
  • Ensures that sanitation and quality standards are met
  • Accurately taking resident and guest orders, then serving it in professionally with a smile.
  • Make sure every dining experience for each resident and guest is great.
  • Assist in taking resident and guest orders in the Bistro/Deli, making sure accurate orders are complete. Handling food charges as needed.
  • Scrapes, stacks, loads and washes dishes, tableware and utensils in dishwashing machine or by hand – according to instructions. Unloads and stores tableware and utensils
  • Sanitizes food carts and dishwashing counters after each meal and keep dishwashing area clean at all times
  • Neatly arranges trays and/or table setting with proper tableware and condiments
  • Performs various food preparation tasks and assists in apportioning servings
  • Assist with food preparation and service for special events.
  • Cleans beverage dispensers according to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Performs cleaning tasks according to established schedules
  • Maintains, or assists in maintaining, dry storage areas by logging temperatures daily and handling the unpacking, dating and rotating of food and non-food supplies
  • Set up tables according to meal requirements. Including table clothes and linens.
  • Delivers soiled linens to laundry. Assist in laundry on linens as needed, specifically for linens that may have absorbed a spill.
